ParticipantI knew this was the right week for the tuneup. Got a nice ride in Monday and then passed on the rest. Although tomorrow is looking so nice and they won’t be done until the evening
.
Sitting on Slaters Lane this morning, I did watch a helmetless dude pull a total scoffaw move. The stop-and-go traffic toward the GWMP is in one of the segments of moving forward and from nowhere this guy appears from behind the car in the left lane and cuts him off then rides right down the middle of the lanes and cuts off another car. The middle part I had less of an issue with then the random appearance (not near the light or even any of the curbcuts) from the wrong side of the double yellows against a moving vehicle. The actual bike lane there is quite convenient and it had no debris/water/etc in it. C’est le vie, I was just happy the driver was paying attention otherwise he would have been on the ground.

ParticipantThe NE Branch trail section south of Decatur was flooded yesterday. It was probably still flooded this morning but I took the (unmarked) detour up Decatur (bike lane) to Alt Route 1 (wide lane) and then rejoined the trail system on Armentrout Road sidepath.
The NE Branch got so high that it flooded over the trail not only in that area, but also on the East-West highway underpass (per drevil’s pic above), and by College Park airport runway. There was 8 inches deep of mud and sand by the airport — you have a dismount to cross with narrow tires. The NW branch flooded by 38th street, but no deep mud or debris.
MNCPP crews were out on the trails this morning, so hopefully will be all cleaned up by this afternoon’s commute. They usually do a nice job. -Jeff

I am pretty sure that section south was still flooded. The river was so high that I even if there was no construction there, I think it would have flooded out.
Ah, I cannot wait to deal with the “Sand Pit” that is just south of the construction.
