Along the Northeast Branch Trail, where it goes underneath the train tracks. I walked it, and in the deepest part (directly underneath the tracks), the water went up to mid-thigh to me. More surreal: there was a whole lotta fish bumping into me

Ha ha it’s fish — the ospreys love them. They’ve cleaned up the Anacostia tributaries nicely over the last decade.

There’s an easy detour — just go under Alt Route 1, then go back up the other side, and take it to Decatur street to get back on the trail above the flood area.

    Holy frijoles!

Greenbelt, did you come up the Northeast Branch Trail today after work? The sections around East West Hwy and the Rte 1 split were closed because the trail was basically under the river.

And because of mstone’s poop comments (and common sense), I tried my best not to go in the water…at least not where I couldn’t see the bottom.

MVT south of Roosevelt and south of Memorial is under water; the Potomac is way over its banks (Alexandria must not be too much fun right now)

Old Town streets were plenty fun this morning. I’m glad I had the rubber nuke boots…

The WOD Wilson Blvd underpass still has about an inch of water. The Carlin Springs underpass is clear except for some sand.

Custis puddle was only about four inches deep today. easy to coast through with pedals up on my 26″ tires.

The East-West Hwy underpass is no longer flooded but there is a thick layer of sediment there, so take it easy! The railroad underpass a bit further south was still flooded as of this morning. I didn’t even bother getting close, as I could see it from Decatur St.

And that looks like exactly the sort of bike that can handle it.

I think we’ve crossed paths on the W&OD (going opposite directions) – that e-bike looks like a monkey-barrel of fun.
