any way to contact you? any discerning physical imperfections? cable wear? dents?March 12, 2012 at 9:36 am #937445ChrisC
ParticipantPM me with info…that would be great. Or just post to the forum will work out well also.
…
Not really; had a lot of riding on it, but cosmetically was in good shape.
Had a pannier rack on back, other components, that could be pretty quickly removed. The gear shifters wear badly in need of adjustment.
The photos in the provided link are a better description than I could ever put into words; is nearly an exact match, with the exception of any aftermarket components shown. And mine did not have a kickstand.
Am relatively new in town, wondering if there are pawnshops in the area that are known for selling bicycles, or if there are local bike shops that sell used?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

ParticipantI’m sorry, what is “SF Metro”? If that is a metro station, I can’t figure out which one.
My bike was stolen from Ballston station a few years ago. Make sure you report it to the police. I only had a partial serial number (when I bought it, the LBS salesman’s handwriting was so poor it was impossible to make out some of the numbers, and I didn’t realize this until, natch, it was too late), which was an obstacle to recovery. Keep calling the police to see if they’ve recovered a bike fitting your description. Eventually they auction off recovered bicycles so you want to have them check their inventory periodically.
Good luck.

Watch DC Craigslist. Thieves around here aren’t Mensa scholars, have seen many instances where they’ve popped up

You might want to visit Velo City coop (which is now in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood) or Phoenix coop in Arlington’s Shirlington for a good deal on a used bike. Both generally have a pretty good selection.
I provide this as a source for a replacement, not as a suggestion that yours would end up there.

ParticipantSF metro = Springfield Franconia Metro, at the end of the blue line. Apologies for the confusing shorthand.
Appreciate recommendations for used bikes, very helpful.
I noticed that there was a camera pointing virtually right at the rack where my bike was locked up. Anyone know who to ping to get a viewing of the tape? WMATA pd thinks that it may take awhile…
More to follow; really great forum, appreciate the responses.

Sorry about your loss. I happen to know someone at WMATA who works with bike stuff – I’ll see if she can help with this answer. Are you sure it was a WMATA camera?
