    You are kidding right?

This bike is a 2001 GF Sugar 3 (not plus, not disc). It is 16 years old. Blue book value is max $275 if it is in like new condition.

This is a forum full of bike nerds. This bike did not even cost $1600 NEW in 2001. 😡

I have it on good authority that the rear reflector was a joint project with Cateye and is comprised of a single red Burmese ruby, and the flat pedal attachments are made of carbon nanotubes.

Totes worth the asking price. Practically a steal if I’m being honest.

And check out that saddle! — Comfort Zone! How many times have you been out mountain biking and though “wow, this trail is a little uncomfortable”. Well, obviously that isn’t going to happen with this setup.

Yeah I’m not a complete bike expert, but based off research this bike is primo. I’m not trying to provide an unfair price for the bike, I’m just listing the price which was given to me by owners of bike shops in the D.C. Area.

    They lied to you.

For reference, a few years back I sold my 2009 full-suspension Diamondback Sortie (Fox shock, SRAM X9/X10 drivetrain, Marzocchi Marathon fork) for $650.

$250 is probably asking too much for a 17-year-old (!) rim-brake MTB with low-end components. Yes, way too much.

Meh figures, thanks for the advice!

    to OP:

    This is your friend.

Also, be aware that the DC/MD/VA area tends to incorrectly inflate used prices by about 30% imho.

So, yes, that bike is probably worth about $250-$400 to a motivated buyer (given DC/MD/VA artificially inflated market).

I’d start at $250 and be prepared to move downward, if I were selling it.

I’m curious about the sweet 20 speed drive train. How is that achieved with a triple front?

But—like new tire tread! That’s worth a lot!

Funny thing is that it’s a 3×9, so calling it a 20 speed is sort of an undersell…

Easy, chain line issues make 1+ gears unusable on a 3 x (7 or greater). Duh.

Hozn, Sunyata, Harry – So I’m relatively unmotivated. Is this my size? Should I offer him $150?

Only if he throws in the 7 extra gears at no cost.

The OP did not say what size it is. If it is a medium and in decent condition (specifically the shock and fork), $150 would be a fair price to pay.
