    It gets worse the further north of NY Ave Metro you get… I run the trail pretty often and I’ve never had any problems. I don’t think I’d run it at night though.

    The local news channel I frequently watch (but shall remain nameless) has jumped all over this. It is a very nice looking trail but there it runs through an obscure location that tends to have fences on both sides, which sounds like it would be ideal in most locations.

    One of the trails regulars was talking about using his bike as a weapon if someone was to ever to try to stop him. I’d probably be looking at some pepper spray or something that could quickly be deployed.

    The Guardian Angles are taking rides through the area to help keep an extra set of eyes out there but it appears there is very little more they will be able to do. I seriously hope everyone who passes through this area stays safe.

    I’ve ridden it every day for almost a year and never had any trouble. Lots of fast riders out tonight, which is nice that folks aren’t getting scared off. Bike cop was out when I went past around 7pm.

    Looks like there was yet another yesterday, got a cyclist at gunpoint.

    Not worth the risk. Looks like I’ll be adding 5 miles each way to my commute to take Rock Creek Park until DC Police can find a way to keep the trail safe. Too bad, because it is very convenient, but the trail is just too isolated.
