So I’m riding home a few weeks ago and I see Dickie, with his lovely wife, bleeding on the side of the road from a crash. So of course I stopped to render aid, by drinking a beer with them. I think I helped.

Anyway, we dreamed up the idea of having a little supplemental happy hour in my backyard on the Bluemont Junction on Tuesday, Oct. 1, around 6 pm. It will be our version of Oktoberfest.

If you RSVP here, and bring five bucks, I can buy beer and other drinks and some food and snacks for everyone in advance.

My house is the very last one on the Bluemont Junction trail before it meets the W&OD – 5762 6th St. North. You can come up the hill from the trail.

Bring a light, as the sun will be setting earlier by then. There’s play equipment in the back for kids.

    Hope to see you there!

It’s 50 feet from the Bluemont Trail. Just portage your bikes through the woods.

A big thanks to Rick and his family for hosting a wonderful get together last night. Nice to see some regular faces and meet some new folks.

Yeah, big thumbs up to the Bluemont Toll Troll and his bike overlook! ;)

Thanks to all who came and made Bikefurloughfirst a success. Glad to share my vantage point/playground/troll station on the junction. Let’s do it again some time.

Best part was that I found myself closing out the party with not one, but two laid off government economists.

Many thanks from me too. It was a lovely evening get-together and it was very nice to have something fun to look forward to on the first day of furloughs.

Thanks for hosting! The kids had a blast. We almost made it back before dark, with just a little roadrash to show for the outing.

Thanks Rick for hosting; awesome location. Very cool, laid back wife. Sorry to be a late comer. Wow, you cyclists sure pack up early. Aren’t there any night owl cyclists out there?!
