So I’m riding home a few weeks ago and I see Dickie, with his lovely wife, bleeding on the side of the road from a crash. So of course I stopped to render aid, by drinking a beer with them. I think I helped.

Anyway, we dreamed up the idea of having a little supplemental happy hour in my backyard on the Bluemont Junction on Tuesday, Oct. 1, around 6 pm. It will be our version of Oktoberfest.

If you RSVP here, and bring five bucks, I can buy beer and other drinks and some food and snacks for everyone in advance.

My house is the very last one on the Bluemont Junction trail before it meets the W&OD – 5762 6th St. North. You can come up the hill from the trail.

Bring a light, as the sun will be setting earlier by then. There’s play equipment in the back for kids.

    Hope to see you there!

Does the $5 include the troll toll?

You really are at the junction. Cool idea – please count me in! (and let me know if I can help in any way).

Yes – $4.75 is the toll, 25 cents is for the beer. Really really cheap beer.

Bumping this to remind everyone that Biketoberfirst is just a week away.

Next Tuesday, come join us on my little patio at the Bluemont Junction for a happy hour, starting around 5:30. We’ll have beer, wine, a few German and other snacks, etc. Just bring a few bucks to pitch in. We have playground equipment for kids too. Don’t forget to bring a light if you’re on your bike, since it gets dark early now.

Here’s a google map with the location: http://goo.gl/maps/J2CL1
We’re at the very end of 6th Street North. By bike, you’ll see the patio at the end of the Bluemont Junction Trail where it meets the W&OD.
    My cell # is 703-801-3452.

I’ll be there. And if the Government shuts down, I might chip in $10 and drink for two.

Hey it’s almost in my neighborhood and on my way home. Of cours if there is a lapse in appropriations that day, maybe we can get that ride in to Cumberland (or Pittsburgh) and back first.

Can you provide directions from Westover?

Based on description of location, fastest route is probably ride south on Patrick Henry to 4MRT, east on trail until W&OD, right (east) on W&OD until junction with Bluemont trail just past the caboose.

Or however you like to get to the W&OD from Westover, of course.

I am disappointed I can’t make it this year, but I would love to attend next year!

I believe husband + kids + bakfiets will be there. I don’t know when I get off work, but I doubt I’ll be able to get there much before the auto-timer on the baby goes off.

    Yes. Thanks.

Sorry you can’t make it; maybe next time.

Everyone, I will be home early that day, so feel free to come by as early as 4 or so. Which might work for you federal employees that day anyway.
