I replaced the battery on my Cateye Strada wireless computer but it won’t let me re-enter the miles I had on it. Since there were over 16,700 I’d kind of like to remedy this. Any suggestions?
Is it broken? You should be able to enter the mileage for the odometer using the flowcharts found in the instruction manual. I don’t know which model you have, but you can download the manuals from the Cateye site: http://www.cateye.com/en/support/manual/
I have had Cateye cycling computers for many years now, and the only issue I’ve had with re-entering the odometer data from a battery replacement was that mine only has 5 digits so after hitting 10k on it the tenths of a mile would no longer show.

ParticipantIt actually won’t let you when their confusing flowchart is correctly (?) followed, or can you not figure it out? I’ve had lots of problems over the years figuring out how to reset Strada and Strada Slims but have always eventually been able to get them to work. Have to relearn every time, even though I’ve written it down in non-flowchart English.
If it’s truly no longer working correctly, you could just replace it and enter 16,713 on the new one. Or just remember that 100 miles is actually 16,813 (not as much fun, of course).

ParticipantSomehow, someway I managed to stumble upon the right combination of clicks and holding buttons down to get the ODO input screen to appear. On to 17,000!

That’s exactly what happened to me first time. Not knowing what I did, I couldn’t figure it out next time, so when I did accidentally stumble on it again the next time, I intentionally zeroed it all out so that I could figure it out well enough to write it down in English.
I’m all for flowcharts if they make sense, but those flowcharts were developed by someone from another planet.

ParticipantI’m glad you were able to get it set up.
I think over the years I just got used to the flowcharts (i.e. used to the fact that I have to sometimes relearn how to navigate the menus that I almost never use). I think the hardest part is that you have to get used to clicking buttons labeled “MODE”, “SET”, and “MENU” that are each multi-functional (can anyone tell which of these is supposed to increase the digit by 1 instead of going to the tens/hundreds/thousands/etc. place?).
That said, I now just keep a note in my phone that lists all information that I need to enter every time I have to reprogram it like the wheel circumference.
