Meet up / Mead up – February 26

Saturday 2/26

10am: (optional) Those who live anywhere near me (Hyattsville) meet at Bladensburg Waterfront Marina to ride down the ART to Yards Park to meet up with the team at BlueJacket

11:15am: everyone else: Converge at Blue Jacket in Yards Park, which has lots of great outside seating, great food and beer, for a bit of brunch at around 11:15am. (photo: https://www.porchdrinking.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/bluejacket-dc.jpg )

12:30pmish: After food, we all bike (social pace 10-12 mph) via the ART into Murland, where I can bring you to these two great spots:

145pm-ish: Quick stop at the Exorcist house that my friends Ben and Danielle accidentally bought in Cottage City (google it!). Folks who are interested can take selfies of your faux disembodied heads atop their stone pedestals! fun fun fun. 2ish: arrive Maryland Meadworks in Hyattsville (https://www.marylandmeadworks.com/), very conveniently located off the bike trail, where, as the team captain for Sled Zeppelin, the first round is on me for all of my team 3 teammates! The rest of y’all’s can buy yer own mead lol. For those who don’t know, I am Mrs. Maryland Meadworks — my husband is the owner/meadmaker, my daughter is our assistant brewer/bartender as well as a professional artist who designed our beautiful mural, my son at UMD occasionally bartends/barbacks, and my dad is our Comptroller, Emeritus!)! Ample outdoor seating!!

NOTE: while I can lead from Bladensburg to BlueJacket, and from BlueJacket to Hyattsville, any of y’all who live elsewhere (cough cough the commonwealthers cough cough) will need to (a) coordinate a group ride if necessary to get from Virginia to BlueJacket and (b) coordinate a group ride if necessary to get back home to Virginny from Hyattsville via the ART (either the legs and directional capability to get back home to virginny; or a metro farecard and I can lead folks to the metro if ya wanna get back that way). Or another idea if you have a car with a bike rack is to drive to bladensburg, meet me at 10am for the down to BlueJacket and back to Maryland, and then drive home after meadworks instead of biking. So lots of options….

We love interceptors so this ride open to other FS folks who are interested (though I’m only buying mead for Sled Zepp team members, LOL!).

This is currently not a formal ride, I dont have a sweep or any other support— its just a team meetup and folks can join if they want.
