A Prize for the First to Identify the Drawing!

When: Sunday, January 30, 10AM. Plan ahead to arrive a little early, as we will depart promptly. You don’t want to miss out by being late! Unfortunately, I cannot publish the route without revealing the secret!
Where: Meet at the Washington Monument, in front of the restrooms on 15th St NW, between Jefferson and Madison Streets
Who: This is a BAFS 2022 Team Storm Riders Event, (and I’ve invited the team). However this event is open to all Freezing Saddles participants and friends, but please note: total group size is limited to 17 riders.
How to Register: Email me (davidpomeroy66@gmail.com) with the subject line: “Mystery GPS Art Ride” Be sure to include your name, Forum name, if different, mobile number, and name of your BAFS Team. I will reply to your email that you are accepted. Once the ride reaches the 17 rider limit, or by Friday night, whichever comes first, I will post on the FORUM the names of participants and a waiting list if applicable. If you are one of our group and the weather looks rainy or unsafe I will email you, post on the forum in this thread, and will reschedule this ride for for one week later.

Description: This ride is GPS artwork, but the subject of the drawing is a mystery to everyone but me. It is a flat, easy 8.5 miles on and around the Smithsonian and national mall, between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. It will be a no drop ride, with a prize to the first rider to correctly identify the familiar image we’re creating using our GPS’s or Phones that we’ll post on Strava. Of course, for Freezing Saddles the miles from and back to home will count towards your BAFS tally! Everyone will have an equal chance of winning, by being the first to guess the drawing!

Important Note: If the weather is rainy or unsafe, this ride will be rescheduled to the following week.

    Mystery Art Ride Update:

As of now, we have 5 confirmed Storm Riders for Sunday’s mystery art ride, one Storm Rider out of town, and no non-team riders (so far).

For those who arrive 10 minutes early, I will share/show some GPS art bike techniques and prepare for a 10AM departure. This ride will last about an hour depending on our speed, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it took less. I would like to start heading home to my place in N Arlington no later than, say, 12 or 1230, and depending on weather and how the team is feeling, that might leave us time to grab a coffee at the Maine Ave Wharf or nearby.
