I suggest heated insoles versus socks. Less bulky.

I personally, am waiting on them to go on sale before I buy. In the meantime, I have been using chem warmers for years and they work pretty well, they just create a lot of waste.

Pssst, they’re on sale now! The six hour run time might be a problem but most days the air temps are manageable after six hours.

I, too, jumped on the sale bandwagon and ordered a pair. Thanks @rod for the heads up. Stay tuned for a product review.

BTW, I have used Barr Mitts on my drop-bar road bikes, and Moose Mitts on my flat-bar bikes with great results, even during polar vortices, but always have been on the look out for something in between those temps just above freezing when the heavy artillery Mitts cause my hands to sweat. Hopefully these will do the trick.

I haven’t tried heated shoes, but I’ve been using Volt heated gloves for several years. I really like them. I have a lot of trouble keeping my hands warm and the heated gloves really help.

Ok, I’ve used these puppies on several night rides now at below freezing temps, and the verdict is … THEY WORK!

They showed up 3 days after I placed my order, just before Christmas. Fast service!

I’ve been using them since New Year’s as liners under ski gloves… which is what they are designed for … or inside my bar mitts, since I can’t find my Perl Izumi Titanium Lobster Mitts! I wouldn’t venture out in current conditions without an over glove or mittens on top of these rather slim glove liners, FYI.

I wait to turn on the liners until my fingers tingle, then use the high mode (red), and once the tingles go away, I click them down to low mode (green). If the tingles creep back, then I go to middle mode (yellow).

I used these liners on 4 decasleaze rides this week before the batteries died. Unfortunately that happened last night while I was riding a CaBi at real feel 16F, and my fingers quickly froze up under my ski gloves, so I cut my ride short to save my fingers for another day.

Bottom line: Buy ‘em when they are on sale!
