ParticipantTo start us off- I went on a New Deal social ride with good bikey friends, some who I have not seen in a long time, and some who are/have recovered from a major injury or illness. The weather was balmier than yesterday with blue skies. I was able to visit my favorite local business and the sunset was stellar!

ParticipantThis is perhaps more of a #goodsamaritan than #warmfuzzies, but here goes.
I was riding down the CCT (near the Chain Bridge #wormhole) and saw a small group of cyclists just off the trail. I was riding slowly due to the swarms of people out today, so I was able to see one of the riders had a bloody hand. I stopped. He had fallen and put his hand down, tearing off some of the skin on his palm. I carry some first aid stuff in my seat bag. I gave him an antiseptic towelette, some gauze and a couple of large bandaids, which was hopefully enough to get him home.
It’s good to carry these things, both for yourself if needed and for your fellow cyclists. Warm fuzzies all around.

Warm fuzzies indeed! I bet he got some as well as you during this encounter. And also a good reminder that carrying a first aid kit is a great idea in case you get in an bad situation, but also great for others in case a helping hand is needed! Not everyone thinks to bring a first aid kit with them on a ride, but I bet this person was very glad you did! Thanks for sharing & lending a helping hand!
