Welcome aboard! I will be your team facilitator for the FS2021 experience. Cruising altitude will be at or below freezing [emoji3063], and we expect turbulence, so please ride at least a mile everyday since it’s worth 20 point to the team! … and next to impossible to make up points when you miss a day!
Team members (by their Bike Forum names):
Admin:
1. Team assignments pending FS2021 Opening Happy Hour on Jan 7th, but please start riding on Jan 1st as all miles will be credited retroactively back to that date.
2. Join our Strava Club once I send you an invitation (it is private so you need an invitation). LeslyJ has volunteered as an admin to help manage our Club … and in case my fingers get frostbite and I can no longer type. You can find me in Strava as “Boomer Cycles” FYI https://www.strava.com/clubs/BAFS2021Team15
3. Click the “follow this thread [emoji3468]” flag in the banner above and set your following frequency to at least weekly. We can use either this thread or the Strava Club for communications within the club. Please let your preference known between which of the two platforms you prefer to use.
4. Team Name above is merely a place holder, but was suggested to me by a former FS mileage champion (I think she was saying to me “if the shoe fits…”). So suggest away and we can vote on our consensus team name.
5. Did I say ride your bike at least a mile every day? Be a hero/heroine and max out the FS point system by riding at least 9 miles everyday! Go further than 10 miles daily to become a marvel super power … and I will give you hand-toe warmers!! Here is a crib note on how the BAFS scoring system works, FYI
6. Please drop a line here to introduce yourself to the team. To start, I have been involved in Freezing Saddles since 2014, but commuted year-round from Falls Church VA to NW DC for over 25 years. I finished in the Top Ten leaderboard for total miles in 2015, but don’t expect to repeat that feat this year. In 2020, I rode my bike 323 days for a total of 8300+ miles. When not riding, I fix bikes so that I can keep riding them come sun, rain or snow.
Now jump on your bike, ride through the winter, and stand by for periodic updates…
