Here’s an interesting article about how France, Italy, Britain, and other European countries are investing hundreds of millions of euros to create even more bicycle-transportation infrastructure and incentives to ride…there are subsidies not only to buy a bike but also for getting repairs done. European countries want people to get around safely while not contributing to air pollution, given the link between dirty air and Covid-19 death rates.

What steps are Arlington and the Washington DC area taking during Covid-19 to create a safe, reliable, sustainable bicycle-transportation network?

In DC, the “Slow Streets” initiative could be used to create low-stress connections between infrastructure gaps. In my neighborhood, I’m thinking particularly of the lack of East-West connections between Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Park View (basically from Rock Creek Park to Georgia Ave).
