    As promised, bumping the post.

Again, here is the link for the strava club:
    https://www.strava.com/clubs/TheTerribleTwos

I have made it public for now, just in case someone is quick to join before I get back from happy hour tonight.

The three most important things to do are:
    1. Join the Strava club. Otherwise your miles don’t count for the team.
    2. Make sure your miles are being recorded by Freezing Saddles. Otherwise you don’t exist.
    3. Ride, silly, ride! Otherwise, you shouldn’t be doing this.

Feel free to introduce yourself here and join in mindless banter with the rest of the team. I’m probably not the best captain in the world, but I do enjoy mindless banter and I always try to encourage everyone else.
It is also more fun if we all follow each other on Strava. That way we can all encourage each other. And I can keep my eyes on you to make sure you are riding!!

Noooooo!!!! My fingers are backwards. I’m sure that means something offensive to someone!!

And it was great to meet all one of you tonight!! Glad to see this team is as anti-social as I am! We will do great together.

Ok, and I’ll start. I’m Alan. I’ve been doing this a few years now, and have been a team captain for a few of those years. I figured it was pretty easy to do, and didn’t really require that much work.

I used to be a CPA/tax person for 30+ years and decided to call it quits a few years ago. Sadly, my tolerance for freezing weather has diminished as you will soon see. I enjoy being outdoors, so you will most likely find me on a bike or walking/hiking somewhere. And since I live at the outer reaches of the MD ‘burbs, I don’t get to do much of the social parts of the club. And I don’t drink coffee, so the coffee clubs are out of the question. I do like beer, though. But I have found that riding while buzzed isn’t all that smart, so I usually do my drinking after the ride.

I pretty much like to just ride my bike and enjoy life, and not worry about much else. Except, when I get squashed on the bike. Then I don’t ride as much. But I still get outdoors! I just hope no one gets squashed this year.

Hopefully I will get to meet at least some of you this year. I already met the famous morale booster, Amelia, tonight.

    Hello all,

I’m Amelia. This is my first freezing saddles. I only really started riding my bike back in May when I finished grad school and discovered free time. I worked full time for the duration of my degree. I live in Arlington, work in Anacostia so most of my miles are from that ~16 mile RT commute.

My plan was to use freezing saddles to incentivize me to bike to work through the winter and more in general. Which I thought I was getting a strong start with… then on January 4th I wiped out trollheim when it was really foggy and supposedly fractured my elbow/radial head.

So as of 15 January, I actually have most movement back in my arm and I’m not in a splint… but my ability to squeeze/ apply pressure with my left hand is questionable right now.

I’ve gotten a few sleaze miles in and and think I might be back in the swing of it next week after I see the doctor again. Worst case scenario – someone from the waitlist gets my spot.

Also, the sign-up sheet mentioned making contributions to the cause of freezing saddles so I’m on the Happy Hour team.

I’m very open to ~team events~. I may be the lowest in miles, but I’ll make up for it with spirit

I guess I must have been psychic when I came up with our name. We are just a few points shy of dead last!!

Oh well. At least we have a chance of being a team of distinction!

And since Amelia appears to be the only other person who posts here, we can have our own fun conversation about what great morale boosters we are!!

Oh, and Amelia. Please stay on the team, regardless of your injury outcome. Otherwise I’ll have no one to talk to.

Bad news Alan… the doctor told me I have to baby my arm more and no more attempts at riding for a a few weeks…

So not sure staying on the team is good for morale [emoji15]

    Amelia,

We are in dead last. Not sure the morale is helping much. Please don’t quit!! The prize money is pretty much the same for first or last. And who knows, we may get something for finishing in last!
If you really feel like quitting and requesting a sub, you are most welcome to do that. But I certainly hope you don’t. If you do, I will not know any of us at the final happy hour. In fact, I may be the only one.

p.s. I do hope that you finally recover and get to ride your bike again.

Lantern Rouge has long been an honored position. We’re just doing our part to uphold cycling tradition.

You are correct! Someone has to be last. Might as well be us. It is a proud tradition.

I would like to apologize to our team! I am having too much fun in AZ, and have made our team to be not last,
