I’m so excited for this ride I might have accidentally registered for it twice…

To make things more manageable, we’re going to split into three groups. Caseykane50 and Emm have both graciously agreed to lead a group (thanks again — you’re the best!).

If you’re thinking of going and haven’t registered yet, please register so that I know whether to line up more ride leaders and marshals. Thanks.

Sigh – regrettably I have to back out… too much other stuff suddenly piling into this one, pre-vacation weekend… Hope to catch a redo another time!

Heads up – DCist included the ride in its weekly “5 Ways to Have a Totally Free Weekend” roundup (https://dcist.com/story/19/08/30/5-ways-to-have-a-totally-free-weekend-around-d-c-36/). It notes what was in the original post of “registration encouraged but you can show up day of” so numbers may continue to increase…

Yes, and the Post’s Going Out Guide picked it up too. Gulp. I just updated the Eventbrite listing to “sold out,” so we’ll see what happens.

Not to worry, I already contacted Misha’s and Port City. Only fair to let them know that a horde of thirsty cyclists is headed their way.

It turns out that I had neglected to sign up which I did yesterday. Happy to help lead a group since there’s going to be a gaggle.

It was awesome seeing so many forum friends at yesterday’s ride, including drevil, Fast Friendly Guy, KWL, ltierstein, MrTinDC, rachelwright, Reba, rootchopper, and streetsmarts! Special thanks to caseykane50 and Emm for agreeing to be ride leaders and attempting to make sense out of my 20 pages of research notes, and to CBGanimal, Jessica Hirschhorn, Judd, and Steve O for sweeping and keeping everyone safe.

For everyone who was on the ride, as well as those who wish they had made it — don’t forget, tomorrow is the last day to turn your picture with the Butterfly Effect mural into a $5 (and maybe even a $1,000) donation to a nonprofit of your choice. BPAC is one of the eligible organizations, and you can find a full list of 250+ here. Email your picture to alxbutterflyeffect[at]gmail.com with the charity in the subject line or text it to 202-681-7594 with the charity. Share it on social media (with the hashtags #inclusiveALX and #butterflyeffect and mention @elizabethforalx and your charity of choice for a chance to win an additional $500 for your nonprofit. The charity with the most pictures submitted will also receive $500.
