This is essentially a copy and paste of the League of American Bicyclists curriculum for League Certified Instructors, which is heavily focused on vehicular cycling. I wouldn’t call it definitive.

Many of those are an absolute joy to break, but Rule #9 is about the biggest gift to cycling since, I dunno, the invention of disraeli gears.

I recently had the opportunity to comply with Rule 71; unfortunately, both parts. https://www.strava.com/activities/2345308740 (just before mile 45)

You want to adhere to the same rules and laws as when you are driving your car.

Yeah, no. The definitive rule for urban cycling is simply “assume every driver is trying to kill you and ride accordingly.”

Also assume every driver is trying to kill you and drive accordingly.

If Satan is making me to show up to road rides with mountain bike pedals and helmet with a visor, and if it’s his fault I sprint on the hoods, at least it’s keeping him from more devious work.

Thank you. I was wondering what the Jewishly proud yet Anglican PM had to do with cycling, or how these differed from Gladstone gears. More extravagant? Higher power?

Bentbike seems to understand that my sense of humor, so dry that it borders on the nonexistent, needs explication.

Actually, I found your apparent praise of a classic psychedelic-era rock album puzzling given what I know about your musical tastes. But as Dirk Gently predicts, the google showed me the fundamental connection.

I don’t think this is covered directly by any of the rules, but, if passed by a 9-year-old, don’t wheel suck them. They’re small and can’t provide that much of a draft. /s

Yesterday on the CCT I was about to pass someone. Checked over my shoulder first and saw a road cyclist on my shoulder, so I waved him on. He was followed by a kid who looked to be about 9. The guy I was about to pass stood on the pedals and dropped in behind the kid. I dropped back because I don’t need any part of that.
