Can you believe that this Thursday is Third Thursday already? Rachel M from Team 17 is hosting a happy hour at the DC Velo Cafe in the Wharf. I’m proposing that we make this event the official Third Thursday Happy Hour.

Where: DC Velo Cafe – 30b Maine Ave SW Washington DC 20024
    Date: Thursday, January 18th
Time: 5:30 until they kick us out (they stayed open an extra hour until 8 for us last time)

The owners are cool. There’s beer. And there’s also ample bike parking.

Cool beans! I’m going to try to make it there for at least part of it.

Need to give credit where credit is due, Joe Flood is the co-conspirator for the TTHH endeavor.

Ugh. I guess this means I will have to drag myself across the river tomorrow evening. *sigh* :p

It’s only slightly across the river. Not too deep into enemy territory. It really is a nice place.

However, then I’ll have to miss the police /citizen meeting in my new neighborhood. Let’s see — talk to bike friends or listen to police talk about crime… such a tough decision!!!

Can we have more happy hours at the Velo Cafe please? I didn’t get to stay long but I really dug the space.

This was a great venue! I agree about having more happy hours here, maybe alternating with those lovely across the river folks :)

So the interwebs are saying that the Cap City Brewing in Shirlington has closed suddenly. We’ve lost a favorite Third Thursday haunt.

Did they close for good? Best Buns said they had power issues today in the area because of the winds…so maybe it’s temporary?

With paper on the windows, nobody answering the phone, and staff sent home abruptly it sure looks permanent. Local press got an anonymous tip a week ago.

It’s been our mainstay for those don’t feel like cooking, wanna go out for a beer nights, and I can walk or CaBi there. I’m verklempt.

Hmm, paper is made from wood, wood comes from trees, trees get cut down by…

…AHA! I know the culprit behind Cap City’s closure!

It’s Judd! And I’ll bet that he used the reemergence of the MVT paper-shredder to distract from the paper he was amassing with which to cover the brewery.

Why’d you do it, Judd? Why? WHY?!

Also, I am sad that I do not have a place to get my beloved Red, Wheat, and Blue beer (made with fresh red raspberries, white wheat malt, and ripe blueberries, a good dessert beer) when I return for a visit later this year.
