I steal all my best ideas from er, Mikey, yeah, that’s the ticket…. Mikey. If I am not mistaken, a few years ago Mikey ran a FS game called “The Presidents.” The game was simply a list of the Presidents in order. Players cycled to some location in Washington D.C. that could be identified with that president in some way. The player took a picture and posted the photo to the forum. If the photo got three likes (if people could figure out what the photo had to do with that president), then the player got the point and the game moved on to the next president on the list.

Notorious is a game played the same way, only instead of a list of presidents, it is a list of Washington D.C.’s notorious history – some good, some bad, some ugly. Players take a photograph (with their bike) that in some way identifies that item on the list. If the player’s photograph and post to the forum nets four likes, it receives the point, and we move on to the next item on the list. Players can choose to explain their photo or not.

    * Item is in play after the score is posted for the previous item
    PHOTO
    * Photo should be taken after an item is in play +
    * Photo must include your bicycle
    SCORING
    * Photo must net FOUR likes to get the point
    * If two posts net four or more likes before I notice, the post with the most likes wins. If there is still a tie – I will find some other arbitrary and annoying way to award the point.
    * Group finds, everyone in the photo who is identified gets the point
    * Tim the Enchanter gets all the cookies

+ This is a soft rule. It’s one thing to take one photo on your way in because you know the item is going to be in play today. It is another thing to spend sunday racking up photos – posting pictures of an item at night time when the item has only been in play during the day time – or posting a picture on a bright sunny day when its snowing outside.

There will be prizes. Probably a bunny or a hand grenade. Not really sure at this point.

And of course we start with:

It was the Find the Founding Fathers side bet created by Mikey for FS2014
    http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?6457-FSSB-3-Find-the-Founding-Fathers

IMO, it was the funnest game we ever played.

Request for clarification – can only one person get points for each item? For example, if we all post Watergate photos and get the likes, do we all get the points for Watergate, or does only the first person get the points for Watergate?

I can’t follow the forums that closely, so am hoping that it’s not a race based on forum postings. :)

    Cheers.

People who played and remember Mikey’s Founding Father’s game, please chime in. This is designed after that game, just with a diff list

It is a progressive game (he’s being nice…. he means its a race).

But its not a race based on forum postings. Its a race based on net likes.

So let’s pick the first one. The item is “Watergate.” Maybe there are three diff posts: one of a picture of the watergate, one of a picture of HoJos, and one of a picture of a parking garage in Rosslyn. The key is which post nets three likes first. It doesnt matter the order that these posts gate uploaded. Could be that the peanut gallery thinks the parking garage picture is the wrong picture. It goes with a different item on the list. And any good Washingtonian knows that for “Watergate,” the appropriate picture is HoJos, not the Watergate.

But then, that’s up to the subjective will of the peanut gallery.

Sometimes cyclists have been REALLY CLEVER with their pictures. I tried to make the first set of items on the list pretty easy. Some of the items will be pretty hard and if we get stuck we can skip it (does BORF still exist??)

First player to net three likes gets the point and then we move on to the next item on the list.

So for example… the first item in the Notorious game is Watergate. Today I took a picture of my bike below. If you think this photo is responsive to “Watergate,’ give it a like. If you think you can do better, go take a picture of your bike in front of the under construction HoJos. If one of us gets three likes, whoever gets the likes gets the point and we move on to the next item…. the Exorcist Stairs.

I have received three likes for “watergate” and the point. That means we are on to the next item on the list – Exorcist Stairs. Take a picture of your bike in front of “Exorcist Stairs” and see if the peanut gallery approves with three likes.

If someone posts a picture of themself riding down the Exorcist Stairs, I think they should automatically win that one. And if they can do a Danger Panda pic doing such, then I think they should win the whole game.

SteveO earns the point for falling down the Exorcist Stairs.

It would have been even more appropriate if the handlebars were twisted around

This picture is the crash site of Air Florida Flight 90 on Jan13, 1982 and probably looked very similar.
It hit the 14th street bridge (which you can see in the distance) and then through the ice of the Potomac.
I forgot to include my bike in the picture, but you can check my Strava (Ben Johnson) to see I was really there on my bike this morning :)

Benihana has three likes and the point.

Next item on the list is Seven Dirty Words….. which should be quite easy for a few members of FS
