I am sure that some of you want to ride on Christmas Day, and perhaps want to buy drinks, or use restrooms. The weather is expected to be mostly sunny with 15 MPH wind gusting to 25 MPH most of the day. The high is around 37. Here are some stores that are open on Christmas Day:
Most Giant/Safeway stores are open till 5 PM, but not all. It’s typically the same stores from year to year. Safeway’s Store Locator shows which stores are open. Giant doesn’t show which stores are open, but the one in Vienna near the W&OD(Google Map link) is open till 5 PM. If you are using Fairfax County Parkway trail, the Giant at Franklin Farm Road is closed, but the one to the south on Rt50(Greenbriar Shopping Center) is open till 5 PM.
All Whole Foods seem to be closed.
There is a public restroom in Vienna next to the W&OD opposite to Whole Foods. It’s clean with paper towels, but it may or may not be open[Update: It will be closed as with most holidays]. It’s the building with red roof in this Google Satellite view link. It has a third water fountain next to it, but it’s not working. The other two are either clogged, or not working, and further west the fountains at Bucktorne LN and Sunrise Valley RD are not working. To the east, the fountain just west of Gallows RD/Cedar Lane is working.
W&OD/Reston: Reston Ice Skating is open and fully staffed on Christmas Day, which is part of Reston Town Center. They have public restrooms and fountains. Look for an entrance that says “Information Security Restrooms”.
Some McDonalds are open till 2 PM. You would have to call or visit them to see if they are open.
Chinese restaurant are usually open.
I know that Summers Restaurant(Next to Courthouse Metro) is usually open on Thanksgiving Day, but not sure if it’s open on Christmas Day.
7-Eleven are always open.
Also open:
Passage to India, in Bethesda, MD.
Maneki Neko, in Falls Church, VA.
