Thanks for organizing Caitlin – I’m connected to the group and good to go. Apologies in advance to everyone on the team for my sudden drop in miles/points between tomorrow and Tuesday while I’m out of the country, but looking forward to meeting/riding with some of you in the coming weeks or months! -Billy

Caitlin, Eric: Great meeting you guys last night! I look forward to everyone else as we rack up the miles — hopefully with a beer or two along the way!

Yeah, definitely! It’d be great to set up a team happy hour or two. Team, where are all of you located, and would you be interested in/able to get together downtown for a beer? Two weeks out is looking good for me; let’s hope the weather cooperates. If there’s interest, let me know.

Springfielder here. Weekends are fairly open for me and I can travel just about anywhere. Old Ox and Caboose Breweries along the W&OD may lend themselves to a group ride to boot…and goodness knows I’ll need some miles to make up for this week!

Sorry I couldn’t make happy hour! I live in Park View and am theoretically interested in future happy hours, but just got a new puppy so I usually have to rush home after work. I’d be up for the occasional weekend ride, too!

Here’s Penny trying to get my bike to play with her :D

I’d be up for beers, rides and rides that lead to beer. Weeknights tend to be better, but a weekend ride would definitely be fun. More immediately, I am hoping to take advantage of the warm weather today and do some laps around Hains Point before heading home on the CCT. I will probably get to Hains Point around 6:30 or so. Anyone interested?

Eric, what time are you heading on to CCT, do you think? It was really muddy, especially between Jones Mill and when you hit pavement by the industrial park. As you might expect, and just a heads up.

I’m guessing next week isn’t good for a lot of you, although I could try to get in a group ride early on Monday. Why don’t we plan on a happy hour for the week after, around Foggy Bottom, Adams Morgan, or Dupont? Those seem like mutually convenient locations for all of us, on either end of our commutes. (Or, for Phil, they aren’t asking you to come too far in to the city.)

By my count, we have 2 people who live and work in DC, 1 who lives in Glover Park (DC) and works in SS, 1 living in Springfield and working in Pentagon City, 1 living in Takoma.

Also, there still are two members of this team who haven’t joined the Strava group. IF YOU SEE THIS, PLEASE SIGN UP!

I figure I will hit the CCT close to 8 tonight. Hopefully it will be mostly dry. I turn off on Jones Bridge anyway and miss the really muddy section between there and the end of the trail.

A happy hour next week or the week after would be great for me. I work at Farragut Sq., so I can get anywhere pretty easily. Not sure about Monday, but I hope to do a longer ride out in the country somewhere.

Hope everyone enjoys a warm (but windy) ride home tonight!

    No problem, George :)

In case any of you are beerneuring, why don’t we plan to hit some of the breweries? Team 20, how about on 1/24, we hold a happy hour at District Chophouse or Right Proper? Any preference? District Chophouse doesn’t have a lot of room, but it legit has one of the best happy hours in the city – $3/pour. I hate that I’m giving away that trade secret, and you’re welcome. Those both seem to be close for the group, judging by everyone’s commutes.

My laps and ride home last night were GREAT! A bit windy, especially on the southbound leg of Hains Point, but I was in shorts, was never even chilled, and even sweated a bit too much. In January! Caitlin was right, though, that the Georgetown Branch was still pretty muddy in places, but perfectly passable (glad I forgot to add air to my tires yesterday).

Happy Hour on the 24th sounds great, and either of Caitlin’s suggestions work for me. Capitol City Brewing on NY & 11th is also a close-in option with lots of space.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I probably won’t be able to ride at all tomorrow and likely only do a trash ride on Sunday. Monday, however, I hope to get in a long ride and make up in miles for my missed days. Looking ahead, I am trying to plan a long ride (century or so) on Friday to spend the day in a peaceful, happy place far from the madding crowd. Not sure of any of the details, but I will post something here when I settle on a plan if anyone is interested in joining me.

Be safe and enjoy the ride home tonight!

I’m going to go out tomorrow AM, if any of you want to join. I’ll probably do a down-and-up the CCT, although I might throw in some miles down to the waterfront and Hains Point. Let me know if you’d like to ride.

What do the rest of you think about 1/24 for a happy hour?
