IE My First Century. Get it, first century? (I was gonna name it after Rabbi Hillel or someone like that, but thought people might get the wrong impression, and besides that isn’t really right for a ride on Saturday)

Anyway. QOTM has agreed I have the day free tomorrow. So given likely good weather (keneinehara) I think its time to try to break the 100 mile barrier. I will try to ride up the W&OD and back, maybe a few miles off the W&OD in Purcellville. Or some extra miles at the end to get to 100.

If anyone is riding around there, I would welcome the company. I will likely be riding relatively slowly (Last time I did a long ride on the W&OD I did westbound at 11 to just over 13MPH, but it was warmer then, and I have narrower tires now – so say 12 to 14MPH? I won’t jinx it and say 15 – also I will go faster if there is someone I can draft, and use as a model for optimal cadence, but I guess that is not an enticing offer for a group ride) I can shoot for being at Cafe Amouri at 8:30 to 9 or so, and then head up to Green Lizard. Or if people are more likely to want to be at GL, meet there to just say hi? Or ride west from GL? Not sure when I will be at GL though. By 10AM?

I do realize a lot of people will be doing the Cider ride, but just in case anyone is tooling along the W&OD instead, I thought I would put this out there.

Or you could incorporate the Cider Ride into your own longer ride.

Congrats. Hope it’s fun . But cider ride should be fun. In fact if you start with us at WF, ride to cider ride , do the 50ish and ride home you might have them all in. Either way, enjoy.

I LOVE the title for this! I appreciate clever history puns. :D Were I not about to embark on the Cider Ride, I’d be all for rolling with you for a bit of this. Since I can’t though, good luck, have fun, and most of all ENJOY!

I’m more of an ibuprofen guy, but it looks like you had a great day based on Strava. Looking forward to the detailed review. Congrats!

I got back to MP zero shortly after 6PM, with 92 miles under my belt. I didn’t go for the extra miles further out, because I wanted to get done with the trail by dark. That left me with an extra 8 miles to ride. At that point I wanted low stress, non hilly, familiar miles. So I basically rode around Shirlington, Fairlington and Park Center. It felt like doing an extended FS sleeze ride, but I finished, and yes did 100 miles in one day, which I deem to be a century.
