This hill avoidance route goes through an area that feels a little sketchy to me. I prefer Monroe > 12th > Newton > 20th > Varnum/Arundel. Not a big climb. Worse coming back. Otis to 15th to Newton is a good way to get over the ridge, or go around on Taylor to 10th.
