The City of Alexandria is holding a second meeting on the King Street Complete Streets project on Thursday, February 11 at 6:30 pm at T.C. Williams High School (Rotunda Room, second floor) at 330 King Street.
Meeting #1 discussionThe purpose of this meeting is to seek input on proposed design options for the King Street corridor, between Radford Street and Janney’s Lane. This will be implemented as part of a Complete Streets project in conjunction with the resurfacing of this roadway.
During and since the meeting, the public provided the following feedback that the city will attempt to address with the new street design.
- Difficult to cross King Street
- Pedestrian safety concerns near school
- Vehicle speeds along King Street are high
- Street crossings are long
- Not enough time to cross at lights
- Unsafe for people who bike
- Difficult to access bus stops
- Need to change character of the roadway
