    Do you like cycling? Do you like pictures? Do you use (not even necessarily like) social media?

    If the answer is yes to absolutely everything above, I have a niche contest for you!

    Here are the rules (they are the same as last year!)

    1. Be registered for Freezing Saddles.
    2. Take pictures of Freezing Saddles related stuff during the contest period.
    3. Instagram those pictures with the hashtag #BAFS2016.

    The best picture/group of pictures (as judged by a panel of, ahem, experts) will win a prize, to be awarded at the end of competition pointless prize jamboree.

    I don’t Instagram (I deleted my account when Facebook bought them and they cut off Twitter access. I don’t blame Facebook for doing it, but without Twitter, Instagram never would have been anything. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth). But I feel like this photo gets to the spirit of Freezing Saddles, even though it’s nearly 60 degrees out. The kids wanted to do chalk in the back but one of our streetlights is out. So my wife gave them the big bike headlight.

    I have a prize for the pic that I feel like best captures the spirit of Freezing Saddles and I will present it tonight.

    Despite the mostly benign weather, there were 800+ entries this year and so many good shots. Lots of sunsets/sunrises/blizzards/people eating stuff/bikes leaning on stuff.

    It wasn’t one photo, but rather a person (and I’ve already blanked on who it was – Subby?) who won. For the prize, Subby created a very cool collage with a selfie in the middle surrounded by winter biking photos. Well done 😎

    So glad to see one of my Instagram shots was among the honorable mentions! It’s the green helmet and ankle band cuddled up with a latte and eggnog cookie. Awaiting the impending doom of Snowzilla, I had ridden down to Northside Social and found a cozy spot upstairs to watch the first snowflakes fall. Ah, BAFS memories.

    Subby, what did you use to make the collage? I’ve got a collection of pictures of Vaya next to each of the Arlington Visual Arts Bike Tour sites, which might be fun to make more permanent.
