ParticipantMy wife’s team is missing a lot (team 12) she has a friend who is interested. It would be a good fit. Can I pm you his info.

ParticipantDoes this friend have something in common with a… doorbell…so to speak? If so, it sounds like he would be a perfect fit for team 12.

ParticipantA friend from our National Bike Challenge team, Bob James, wants to be sure he’s on thee waiting list. He joined the forum, user name Bob James, strava#5637862, but doesn’t have permission to post on threads which seems odd but one of my teammates also was denied permission. Anyway, he wants to play. He registered late, January 7. Hopefully you can find a spot for him! Thanks!

ParticipantOur team is short one member and I’m pretty sure that Subby has reached out to those who aren’t yet on the leaderboard.

I didn’t have permission to post until a couple days ago. Just email the mod; they helped me out within an hour or so.

Yep, please do. Include his email address and strava number. And make sure he signs up for the forum, too.

Yep, he reached out to me, so he is just waiting on team assignment. Thanks!

ParticipantIf you need more subs to even the teams, I can probably get the hubs to play. Or maybe my 3yo, who requested that I for a run while he rode his bike for his special Mommy/Son time THIS MORNING.

ParticipantAlso willing to volunteer myself as a potential substitute. (I will not hound or beg — my own fault for missing sign up as I am new to the board! I’ll be prompt next year.)

ParticipantOkay… I am calling it (yes, a bit early, I have packing and riding to do)! Anyone that signed up, was placed on a team, but failed to commit (by joining their team’s Strava group) is hereby officially cut and should be heckled relentlessly for the rest of their days.
I would like to officially welcome The Replacements:
Team 2: sszibler
Team 3: notinthe18
Team 4: coffeeneur
Team 6: Karen B
Team 7: mborbacs23
Team 9: rosato
Team 11: Bob James
Team 12: skibumleg
Team 14: Terpfan
Team 15: MrRodgers82There were eight teams that were actually missing a teammate. Only seven of those teams got replacements (the last one is doing just fine on their own, so I do not think being a man down is going to be a disadvantage to them). There were three teams in the bottom 50% that were only assigned 12 members.
That equals 10 teams that “needed” a new member and I had 10 confirmed replacements ready to go. They have been assigned based on their estimated weekly mileage (lowest ranked team got highest mileage person, etc.).
Unfortunately, there are three local teams that now have non “local” riders (one DC team and two MD teams). Sorry (not sorry).
The new members have been sent an email with instructions and links to their respective team Strava groups with the instructions to join up. If team captains have set their group to invite only, please let me know so that I can give you your new teammate’s Strava ID or email address.
I tried to make the replacement assignments as fair as possible, but since there were several high mileage people that wanted in, things might get a little competitive from here on out. It will be fun. So get out and ride your bike.
If there are questions/concerns, I will address them after you have bought me a beer.

If team captains have set their group to invite only, please let me know so that I can give you your new teammate’s Strava ID or email address.
Yay! Before I even had a chance to contact our new teammate, she had already requested to join our Strava group, a request which I of course approved immediately.

You’re still ahead of us (Team 4), even with the new person’s miles counted! We have one who has no rides, and another who has one. We started out with only 12 people rather than 13. And I’m barely managing perfect attendance, with much reduced mileage, after mishaps that included developing a kidney stone on one ride (yes, really!) and developing a bent wheel rim on another that took me three days to get fixed (and involved my riding on a flat tire with no rear brake in between).

ParticipantWoohoo! Skibumleg has already joined Team 12, adding 36 miles for this week and hitting the leader board a couple of times. Obviously the bum leg doesn’t hamper cycling.
