ParticipantIt’s a short and sweet one, but if you haven’t ridden the downhill from Fort Myer through Arlington National Cemetery, it’s a beautiful ride (and very DC, despite being in VA).

ParticipantSince you’re leaving in a few months, I’ll keep the spring/summer/fall events off the list (* starred ones are those that I have not done but want to do in 2016).
- Bike from DC to Baltimore and back* – from one major city to another
- Bike to Charlottesville* – ask Steve O about this one
- Ride to all the DC boundary stones – the group event is in September, but you can do the ride on your own; bonus points if you visit the off-the-beaten-path ones
- WABA’s Vasa Ride – sometime in February/March, cold weather ride from Embassy of Sweden to Potomac, MD, and back with delicious hot blueberry soup as your reward
- Arlington Historical Bike Tour – self-guided tour; it’s neat learning about all those little historical things you may have passed by and finding out what a lot of places/roads are named for
- Ride across all the bridges in DC or over the Potomac* – still brainstorming on this, but it looks like a fun challenge
- Climb up the 41st Street hill from Chain Bridge without putting a foot on the ground* – pump those legs!

ParticipantYou could also make sure you hit all 8 weekly coffee clubs (not including the Women & Bikes one).

I have ridden that way, but only in the dark. I will do it in the day light sometime soon. I do love going through Fort Myer and seeing the recruits going through drills. Wish I still had a capital region base pass so I could ride around other bases again.
I also have a bunch of short items as well: explore more of NE DC (around Takoma, Manor Park), write something up about all the hidden hills in Anocostia and adjacent MD beyond what the Hills of Anacostia cover, ride the North Fork Trail near Seneca Rocks again,… and some Strava based I will admit with shame.
I want to try to get back all the KOM’s in Fort Dupont. My hope is they will not last long as more people ride out there after REI gets involved making it their pet project. BTW, if you are house shopping in DC, do not dismiss looking in Anacostia. Between that revival and the the soon to open Busboys & Poets, the gentrification wave will turn into a Tsunami and consume everything up to Eastern Ave.

May not get all 8, but some without a doubt.

ParticipantAnd one to add, reverse my decision and join BAFS16 since I won’t be here next year to really join.

“Less weird”? Who told you that was as desirable goal for this competition?

Less weird means no weird Strava stalking of people or caring about my points or rankings.

ParticipantOne more item to add, sell all the extra parts, bikes and frames I have. Somebody already laid claim to my Lemond Poprad, but there will be a lot more: cranks, brakes, forks, frames, wheels, that will be sold or go to Velocity

I have never enjoyed the Shed. Strongly prefer the rocks at Elizabeth Furnace.
