The free live coverage begins at 12 pm ET on http://www.ironman.com. The pro men begin at 12:25 pm. The pro women begin at 12:30 pm.
Expect the leaders to be on the course past 8 pm ET. The pro women will be racing past 9 pm ET. The amateurs (age groupers) will be finishing well after that. The final cutoff is 6 am the following morning (midnight local Hawaii Time).

As you may know, the race includes the 2.4 mile swim, the 112 mile bike and the 26.2 mile marathon run. There isn’t always much to see on the swim. It’s difficult to see the athletes while they are in the water. But there is usually good coverage of the bike and run legs.
One of the highlights last year was Mirinda Carfrae making up a 14:32 gap at the start of her run, chasing down all the pro women on her way to a 3rd Ironman world championship. Super-biker Sebastian Kienle of Germany won the men’s title.
