What do you think of the Google Map options?

I find Rock Creek Church Road more accommodating than, say Michigan or Irving. The hospitals and the retirement home are the big obstacles to get around.
Others should weigh in on whether Park Road or Piney Branch is better for going down into RCP.

I presume Military Road is bad — it looks like a highway on the map.

    Yes. Not recommended.

I’d try Kennedy all the way onto Morrow Drive down into the park, then ride up Beach Drive to Bingham, pick up Nebraska Ave. to McKinley Street, then McKinley to Western Ave.

I’ve done it once and wouldn’t recommend it, although it’s slightly better since they put some speed cameras in where it crosses Rock Creek Park.

The routes mentioned work. Alternatively, you can do whichever way you want to Blagden to Tilden to Reno. Tilden has a bike lane.

If you pop out of the park by Nebraska then I would just take Rittenhouse to Western. Western along this area is pretty quiet and I sometimes take it the other direction toward Silver Spring when I leave work.
