Good morning! Road conditions largely good. Here are some recommendations:
There is new sidewalk at the Fish Market to use. From there along Maine Ave, new pavement with a coned-off lane for peds/bikes. During the workday, that lane is sometimes blocked by construction equipment, so be aware. Past Arena Stage, at the beginning of M St. SW, there is a bit of pavement (concrete) work.
P St SW, in front of Ft. McNair, is a much calmer route to S Capitol and the ballpark. To get there, either turn off into the “Water St. parking lot” (next to the Spirit & Odyssey dinner cruise ships) and use the riverfront trail to P St, or go a block further and turn right at 4th St SW.
On the way back: Tour buses frequently park along the north side of Maine, from Arena Stage to the crosswalk at the Fish Market. If car traffic is light, it’s safe to take the lane. If not, many commuters use the sidewalk there.
