    Just looking for a confirmation of my suspicion there are no good crossing into Anacostia from the river trail into Ward 7/8. The best one is on the Northern side of Penn, it it is pretty bad having to cross the on & off ramps from Rt 295. The crossing at Benning & Minn is even worse.

    Suggestion a place for a great one, from the trail near the new northern bridge over the rail lines to the Greenway neighborhood at D and 32nd St NE. The two rail lines it crosses are inactive. The east one would also make a very cool rail to trail. It extends from C St NE to Penn ave and below.

    When I ride over that way I prefer the Frederick Douglass or 11th St. bridge, but I have also used the East Capitol/Whitney Young bridge with some success.

    Both of those ways only get you to the trail, not over the highway and into the neighborhoods.

    11th gets you across the highway no?

    Yeah, I go to MLK over 11th and then down towards St E’s.

    11th does get you over the highway, however, that Good Hope/MLK intersection is a bit annoying plus after getting threaten with a gun on Good Hope, I have a tendency to not like going that way. It also still requires you to cross over Penn if you are looking to head towards Greenway, Fort DuPont, etc.

    Really the best way is the tunnel to the south of Penn Ave, Nicholson Street NE. Still puts me on the wrong side of Penn, but is the best choice out of the bunch.

    I went across at D and 32nd St SE last night. It was not too grand. One of the two old side lines is active, plus the rail yard is in heavy use. I do not like riding through such equipment areas, the folks driving large vehicle are not expecting bikes there.

    Is there a reason DDOT just decided not to put a cross-walk and curb cuts at the off ramp from 295 to west bound PA Ave? They’re there on the other side on the 295 on-ramp from westbound PA Ave. It’s so stupid!

    I hate that whole area. Like you said, getting to the trail is easy enough, but the rest of it has clearly just been neglected and terribly designed.
