    The County Board addressed this tonight. They did nothing. Nothing has changed. The Esplanade Project will hopefully be done by 2018 and then we’ll wait a while to see if it magically makes it all better and when it doesn’t we’ll START planning something else. With any luck the intersection will be safe before my kids graduate high school.

    Good news! Two of the board members have quit and are on the way out (bad new….. we have YET ANOTHER county election)

    The relevant 6 minutes.

    The “7 million dollar project” is the Lynn Street Esplanade & Custis Trail Improvements. The board seems to be confusing “it’s a big project” with “it will have a big impact on safety at the intersection”. The Esplanade Project is a good project, but it doesn’t address the fundamental conflict at the intersection. When your safety problem is crossing 5 lanes of doom, a project that removes one lane of doom certainly “helps safety” but it does not “solve the problem”.
