I’m confused. The roads off to the sides of Wilson and Clarendon are actually really nice for riding; all residential. Huh.

Anyway, if she thinks that way then she should be working on ways to make *all* streets bike friendly!

There’s already a great shortcut in Virginia, known as the Cumberland Gap. It’s right there in the name.

So what does she do when they close the streets for a parade? Or should they stop having those, too?

I risked my life to bike to this meeting because the bike race… had blocked off all the streets in Clarendon

This was my favorite part when I read this. It was because they blocked the streets she was in danger. Is that some new kind of doublespeak? I’ve never once encountered a blocked street that wasn’t more dangerous than one open. (Though I don’t play around powerlines I suppose…)

In any event I’d love to see how safe she’d feel if she were pedaling along and all of a sudden the mongol hordes in clad in spandex on steeds of carbon fiber turn the corner… with no great wall of plastic to protect her.

“Clement noted on Saturday that she was “ridiculed” for her remarks in June.”

She’s right, except she left off “deservedly” before “ridiculed.”

There are so many ways around things and so many friendly people to help you find those ways, but it takes a willing attitude or time–neither of which she seems to have, except to whine.
