Seriously, though, I’ve often wished the traffic reports took into account cycling. For example, when Metro-geddon happens, mentioned how far from the station you have to go to get a CaBi, or in the winter mentioning which of the major trails are cleared/not cleared. I LOVE the social media idea for increasing that visibility.

Oh, and I wish the traffic reporters (WAMU and WTOP) would remind drivers during HORRIBLE traffic days that they need to look out for pedestirans and cyclists and refrain from blocking crosswalks. The worse traffic is, the more drivers seem to forget there are people not in cars…

Had the same thought. Happy to participate. I didn’t even hear a mention of BTWD on BTWD (though I may have missed one).

Also wish the weather report were slightly more extensive so that I could plan my cycling while I’m packing my lunch. They use so many words without telling me what I really want to know: Is there going to be a storm when I ride home tonight?

The trail conditions reports posted here this winter were great, and I really appreciated those poor suckers who had to hit the trail early in the morning.

I picked the kids up by bike, as usual, from school and took them to swimming. Because of the forecast of potential lightning storms, my wife drove down to get us. Rain is cool – my kids don’t melt. But I’m not ashamed to drive my children to places they need to be when there’s lightning.

Anyway, it was clear when swimming ended, so she took the kids and I biked home. It’s only a mile and a half or so, but it’s uphill, and I was on the longtail. I beat them home.

I’ll be sure to tweet my commute tomorrow, though.
