You should come to the Freezing Saddles Awards Happy Hour next week and meet a large chunk of us and get inspired to do Freezing Saddles next year.

    Welcome to the area/forum.

Welcome. I have no idea what cycling is like out in Kansas City, but my burning question is: did you bring bbq?

Oh, I think you will fit right in!

Welcome to the area from someone who transplanted to the region last year around this time. :)

    Do you mountain bike?

Terrific (to keep with the web speak)

Let me get this straight, you have been talking to dcv, and you’re currently selling an extra Dura Ace 9000 crank in the classified,,,, I think we can put you in the speedster category. A lot fun rides and races coming up. Our local fun ride is the Air Force Ride. I’m sure there are a few more people can tell you about. There are also some good group rides around here that should be starting up soon, Bikekenetic, Fresh Bikes, Revolution, Spokes, Tri360, Belle Haven Blast by Potomac Pedlars, to name a few. BTW, i will be heading over to the Wed. night spin. I will be the fat guy on the old trek looking terribly out of place, or is that old guy on fat Trek, either way, say ‘Hi’ if you make it.

I think that there are a lot of old guys on old Treks on this forum. I will not comment on anyone’s fatness but my own.

Just to be clear…not all of us who ride fat old Treks (1994 Mountain 820) qualify as fat or old or guys.

    It’s not fat, it’s insulation.

Sorry, a 1994 Trek does not qualify as old.

I guess what’s “old” depends on your own personal timeline. :+)

My son is older than your bike, and he’s not old. Not sure how that plays out for me or for your bike, though.

Beer and BBQ can help with pillows if enough riding does not acompany the duo.

That DA crank is now sold – a bit sad really but the transplant has dramatically reduced the stable. I have only one bike now – a custom Ti.

The Air Force looks like great fun and would afford quite a few beers afterwards if I manage a gold medal.

Not sure if I making it to the WED night fun but hope to try.

Yep, a 7300 to be exact. Love that steel and those bontrager widebody tires for all the sand, glass, and body parts to be avoided in DC. My wife says I’m only fat in the head, though.
