ParticipantWell, great, chilly and wet commute this AM… hoping you all good oodles of miles in this AM and above all had a good and safe time doing it!
Ad maiora!

ParticipantThanks Steve!
Hi Pete and the other team members!
I am Rockford 10 – Kathleen. I live in Falls Church and commute to Tysons when I can (the snow and ice are a no-go through ffx county) (sorry). I do longer rides on the weekend when life isn’t so complicated – this past weekend was a disaster! Riding around the neighborhood to get in 2 miles at 9 pm isn’t much fun.
It is possible they know me at Arrowine for my Taleggio habit. I ride so that I can drink wine and eat cheese.
I’m married to someone on another team. We can chat about trash talking later.

ParticipantHey team!
Here’s where we are as of right now:
12. Team 4: Bollard Busters BAFS2015: 1,616 points (876 miles)
Powerful P: 369 points (13 days, 239 miles)
Steve O: 232 points (11 days, 122 miles)
kathleen k: 232 points (13 days, 102 miles)
Karen B: 226 points (11 days, 116 miles)
Komorebi L: 206 points (10 days, 106 miles)
Trey H: 182 points (7 days, 112 miles)
Christopher F: 135 points (6 days, 75 miles)
Kristina34 points (3 days, 4 miles)
Amalitza has also assigned us fithsparo. I don’t know if we will also get a 10th rider or not. Once fithsparo’s miles are added we will move to the middle of the pack.
I advised Kristina that any rides she took between Jan 1 and the happy hour can be manually added (Kristina – did you have any rides during that time? If so, do you need help adding them to Strava?)
I’m a little under where I’d like to be at this point, but I plan to get to about 100/week by the end. In the spirit of Freezing Saddles, the point is not to ride more or less than me (or anyone else): the point is to ride your bike more in the winter than you would have had you not joined the game. And to have fun. If you do that, then you are a winner.
Keep an eye on the events calendar and on the Forum for group rides that you might want to join. This weekend is a Pedals & Pints ride, for instance.

ParticipantFantastic!
All hail our glorious captain, and a big welcome to Fithsparo – BTW, please do introduce yourself to the gang!
Should we try to organize a team ride this weekend? I am interested – preferably Saturday or Sunday (afternoon only for Sunday due to family commitments).
Also, does anyone else have MLK off next Monday?

ParticipantSome good points today. Apologies for being the lurker in the group. I’m Chris. I am a recidivist Arlingtonian: I grew up here, moved away after college, and have now returned many years later to a much changed (mostly for the better) place. I live off Nellie Custis, near the bottom (west side) of the Col de Lorcom.
My last stop was nine years in Switzerland, where I was more enthusiastic than talented as a cyclist. With all the mountains at our disposal, I always fancied myself more a Quintana than a Cavendish, but the only thing I can beat those guys in is being old.
I am thrilled to see how active the cycling scene is here, and in debt to Powerful Pete for sucking me into BAFS. In general, I’m good for the cold but stay off the ice. I’m also about to steal away for an extended ski weekend, so I’ll have some points to make up.
Anyways, glad to take part. Thanks for having me.

ParticipantI’m 80% for the Pedals and Pints ride on Saturday. Powerful P, if you want to ride down together, we can do that. I figure with the to & from plus the ride (depending on routes) should be 25-30 miles on the day.

ParticipantSalutations to Chris!
Steve O, I will ask for permission – should at the very least be able to ride downhill with you… might even participate in the alcoholic bits of the ride.

Yes, many thanks to our fearless leader, and welcome to ccfinger and Fithsparo. Glad to have you on the team.

I’m not yet sure whether I can make it to Pedals and Pints on Saturday. However, if anyone wants to bike by a few embassies and capture a few flags on Sunday or MLK Day, let me know.

ParticipantHey – I’m probably in for the Pints ride on Saturday, I don’t have anything else that day. Let me know where we should meet up. Can I bring a friend? He might possibly be on another team.
I’m planning to take off Monday from work (slave drivers I work for don’t believe in Federal holidays). So long as the weather is nice, I might be up to going out on a ride.

I’m still 80%, so there’s a possibility I might not make it. Should know by tomorrow. Either way, how about meeting at the Bluemont caboose, allowing PP to triangulate in? From there it’s about 7 miles (according to Google) via Glen Carlyn, etc. & Holmes Run. If we depart at 10, should be there in plenty of time.

Sure. Tell him to meet us at the caboose at 10:30.

ParticipantI’m offended that your team name denigrates bollards. I know some bollards and they are very nice people. Why do want to bust them? My feelings are quite hurt.

Sigh. At least our team is out riding (um, when it isn’t like, snowy or icy) rather than arguing about dogs or dawgz.
