U2 singer Bono was riding a bicycle in NYC’s Central Park in November when he crashed. The hospital described it as “a high-energy bicycle accident when he attempted to avoid another rider.” He lost consciousness and broke his upper arm in six places, and fractured his left shoulder blade and eye socket. The 54-year-old was expected to make a full recovery, but this week, he posted on the band’s website that recovery was more difficult than he thought. He has a titanium elbow and states that he may never be able to play guitar again.
He added, “The band have reminded me that neither they nor western civilization are depending on this.”
Bono and U2 intend to go back on tour, after Bono has recovered from his injuries.
