Every year, I’ve gained weight by the end of March because of work travel and bad eating habits. I’ll play, in hopes that this year will buck that trend. :p

Bleck. I don’t like even looking at how much weight I gained in the 2nd half of 2014 especially the month of December (got sick, didn’t exercise as much, bad sleep habits, holiday sweets), but I definitely noticed my pants feeling tight over the past few weeks. The brutally honest (I knew they were bad) current stats are:

    1/1/2015 – 233.5 lbs, 6’0″, BMI 31.7

It’s in the obese category, and although for the 1st half of 2014 I had it in a more comfortable overweight value of 29 and some change, I obviously do not like the number. I expect to be at 30 before the end of February (interesting tidbit: I will also turn 30 at the end of February!), given a renewed vigor for the new year (I’m adding jogging/running to my current exercise habits of cycling and hiking along with getting back into hitting the gym and doing yoga) and total embarrassment at the tightness of my clothing. At the very least, I am doing much better than the rock bottom that I hit about 4 years ago of being 255 lbs (BMI of 34.6).

P.S. – Lisa, I cannot remember the last time I was 115 lbs! When I entered high school, I was 200 lbs, and I have never dropped below that since.

    199 lbs, 5’9″, BMI 29.4

Finally made it out of the obese category within the past year, but still have a long way to go to be in the normal category.

Heh– in high school, I weighed a little more than 100 lbs. I was tiny. My current weight actually isn’t the most I’ve ever weighed, but I don’t want to get too far above that.

Woot, almost the same as me. 5’11” 155lbs, 21.5BMI. Aiming for ~145lbs (max college weight), or 20.2BMI.

    Great idea for a challenge.
    1/1/2015 – 5’4″ 154lbs 26.4BMI

After achieving slow and steady weight loss for the past few years, I managed to go up about 9 pounds from the goal weight I finally reached this summer. So I have some work to do this winter!

    Ugh.

208 pounds for 5’7″, equals a BMI of 32.6, which apparently qualifies me as obese. 😮

It would appear that I have quite a bit of work to do this winter.

From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

    Height: 5 feet, 11 inches
    Weight: 183.5 pounds
Your BMI is 25.6, indicating your weight is in the Overweight category for adults of your height.
For your height, a normal weight range would be from 133 to 179 pounds.

Really?! I can’t believe it says someone at my height could be considered healthy at 133 pounds. Whatever. I won’t win this bet because I lost all my weight in last year’s challenge. I’ll see if I can get four lousy pounds off. Ok, CDC? …Jerks.

OK, I’m in. Weight 163.3. Height 5’5″ (on a good day). BMI 27.2. Body Fat 29.4%. The good news is that this is down 13.3 pounds from the start of last year’s Freezing Saddles.

Similar here. 5 feet 5.5 inches, 137 lbs (up a pound or two over the holidays) BMI 22.5. Don’t know my fat percentage, which could probably stand some improvement. I’d like to convert remaining fat to muscle at this point, not lose more weight. And yeah, making hill climbing easier was a good motivation to lose.

Post your BMI on this page, then ride throughout the winter, then reweigh yourself on or after March 15th and recalculate your BMI. Those with the greatest drop will win the side bet.

You don’t wanna know. Let’s just say, some of us had better recuse ourselves from this challenge.

Gained 5 pounds since last year at this time, sadly… Would love to get those five back off before spring.
