Teams are being announced at the happy hour on January 8. Once teams are announced, each team will need to create a Strava club and make sure all team members join that club. Hozn will add the clubs to the leaderboard. IF YOU [are] unable to join your team within the next day or two, please let me know this ahead of time. If you do NOT join your Strava club in a timely manner, you may be subbed out.
Can we define “timely manner”?
Midnight Jan 10th? Jan 12th?
72 hrs after the teams are posted on the forum?

GuestHow about 10 am January 12?
I don’t plan on unilaterally kicking people off teams or anything like that, though, so the real answer is when your team captain starts to worry you’re not going to sign up. But not before 10 am January 12.

ParticipantAmalitza, I hate to do this, but we are getting very near capacity with the initial happy hour. Those who are not yet registered should be asked to wait for a later team happy hour, assuming they get on a team. Could you please amend your post in that regard? I’m sure each of the teams will have a get together early on. Thanks!

Participant“Like Chris Horner, it looks like you are entering the season without a team.”

That is funny that it was also (until recently, I guess) still applicable this year! I forgot about the more subtle 2014 references buried in there

ParticipantI will be out of town from Jan 7-11 with limited likelihood of accessing strava using a platform that will make it reasonably likely that I can join a new team. Please, please, please let me stay on my designated team…?

ParticipantLate registrants – I’m bumping a copy of this post to this thread to let you know that you’re invited!
While our happy hour group has grown (73 at this point!) and our room might get a little snug, I’m going to throw caution to the wind and invite late registrants too, but I just want to let all coming to the happy hour know that, while we’ll gather for beer and appetizers in our separate room, some might want to spread out into the main part of the restaurant or bar as well.
I’ll reserve some booths or tables near our room but in the main restaurant area where team members or other groups of friends can gather for more appetizers or dinner. I’ll also set 7 pm as the time when we will award the gold nuggets and make any other announcements so that all won’t feel like they have to stay in the separate room if it gets too crowded. Please be super nice and try to help our wait staff as they work hard to keep track of all of us. They’re very good to us there.
BTW, we have a good-sized side area at the back of our room that’s perfect for backpacks, panniers, jackets etc., so that should make things a little easier. I’ll post a few more details on Thursday. It should be a fun evening!

ParticipantNewbie question, here. I just authorized things as requested in Strava. Does this mean that this rides I have already done these seven days will be added to the data, or have I missed the boat on this? That would make me a very sad panda indeed.

All of your past rides should be included, I believe. The BAFS gods can provide further clarification, I’m sure.

ParticipantRides count when they are posted in strava., no exceptions. Authorizing freezing saddles to pull your data and joining the bike Arlington team cause your data to be included in the challenge from the start. You are good. You will need to join your team club on strava clubs once teams are announced on friday.

Rides flagged in Strava as Trainer rides and rides with the special hashtag (#nobafs I think) are not included.

Ignorant newbie here…why would someone use the #nobafs? Isn’t that just wasting points?

If you’re feeding data to Strava with something that allows you to name rides but not set the Trainer flag?
