Can anyone please tell me why there are absolutely no curb cuts around the circle on the south end of L’enfant Plaza where the Case Bridge trail connection intersects?
It’s highly annoying! I thought curb cuts were mandatory for making the city accessible to everyone.
I have registered at least one request on the 311 system with no success. Given the obstacle rich sidewalk cyclists have to use the street.
Let us all try once more

ParticipantBecause L’Enfant Plaza is one gigantic mess. They should tear up that circle completely and remake the entire road. It’s a grand boulevard that doesn’t lead anywhere.
On a different note, the International Spy Museum might be moving to L’Enfant Plaza, after being forced to abandon their plan to move to the Carnegie Library building at Mt. Vernon Square. Maybe a popular museum could help spur DC to improve the pedestrian and bike routes in and around L’Enfant Plaza at some point.
Bike and Roll now has a location at L’Enfant Plaza, and the Wharf at the Southwest Waterfront will bring in more pedestrian and bike traffic in the coming years. All more reasons for DC and NPS to make that circle more bike friendly.

ParticipantHas WABA said anything about that area?

ParticipantNot to mention there’s no yield sign for those entering the circle from the south. I’ve nearly been hit a few times because I assumed being IN the circle has the right of way like with every other circle in the Universe, but apparently DOE employees are from somewhere else.

ParticipantAs you know the entire SW waterfroont is being rebuilt. And yes, that road to that park is one a wonderous place and a complete missed opportunity. That could be a beautiful part overlooking the river… but instead it looks like a bad 70s fortress.

That place makes a mockery of both traffic safety and logic.

ParticipantI put in an official request a few years ago into the DC “system” for a curb cut. I eventually heard back about eight months later with an automated “no”. I think part of the problem is a curb cut installed there would not be at an intersection and they don’t want to encourage peds walking into the street. That said, a curb cut, or simply some asphalt thrown down would be a big benefit to cyclists, esp Bike and Roll that makes extensive use of Case Bridge for its bike tours.

ParticipantMaybe we should crowd source the ideas for that area (in addition to the curb cut) and then those interested could help identify other upgrades.
I just submitted a request to the DC 311 system (which by the way seems a bit kludgey). You can only see requests from the past month? Huh?
The tracking number is 14-00320504

That wouldn’t be so bad if they fixed stuff within a month.

ParticipantWhere is the DC BAC on this? BTW, I need contact info for them. I’m pretty sure someone posted it, and I dropped the ball and didn’t write the email. Can someone re-post? Thanks!

You probably had more specific contact info in mind, but there’s this that seems up to date.

Wait, the DC BAC is chaired by a woman, too! And it’s not even news. Total awesome-sauce. Nelle FTW.
But, seriously, anyone have an email for her?
