    Your idea bout getting out of town is right on. This is the route I’d take.

    +1 on cyclingfool’s suggestion on getting home, though I’d probably just take Constitution Ave to Virginia if it’s closed to cars-but-not-bikes. And I’d be pretty surprised if those roads are closed to bikes too, morning or evening.

    My guess is that the roads will be open to bikes in morning but not in the afternoon. You will need to loop around the Washington Monument. If you run into any of the security checkpoints were they are searching bags, you will need to find another route.
