I’ve done the long ride each of the last three years. It’s a nice ride in an attractive area, unfortunately for a couple of the people I’ve ridden it with, the last ten miles has some of the worst (but not horrible) hills. There are also some issues with the ride start since it is on a rail trail and is very crowded. Just take it easy. The rest stops are great with lots of pumpkin related goodies.

Did this last year. One of the few supported rides I have done. It was WONDERFUL. Yes, last year the hills and the wind were a buster and I gassed. But I loved it.

Ok, that sounds good. I expect we’ll be doing a more sociable pace and the hills shouldn’t be a huge obstacle.

I did this last year as well and agree w/ the others comments. The rest stops were definitely the highlight. The scenery was decent but nothing special IMHO. If you are looking for something earlier this summer, I’d recommend the Eat a Peach Ride out in Westminster, MD. on Aug. 10.

Very well organized, signed and managed. Post-ride peaches were great as was the farmers market at the same location. The scenery was the best of all the supported event rides I did last year (Indian Head, Tour de Lion, and Pumpkin Ride). It is a quite hilly as well but worth it.

Have to put that on the calendar for next year, I can’t do that weekend. I’m intrigued, though, since I went to the college that’s in Westminster MD that has a stupid new name now.

I did the ride with Rcannon100 and did the metric (?) version the prior year. Food at the rest stops is pretty darn good. Last year was indeed very windy. Well worth doing.

Registration closes this weekend. This is a great ride. The Kid is doing the 68 mile version. I am doing the 47. Last year Rootchopper did it on Little Nellie. CounselorRider was there. Others too

Looks like the perfect opportunity to show off your fixed gear skillz.

I’m not sure “ride 15 miles or so without crashing” rises to the level of “skillz”.

Unless the rider in question is a lawyer, in which case its not.
