I think this should be officially a celebration of the lesser-known event that, coincidentally, falls on the same day: Bike Home from Work Day (BHFWD).

So every day I ride in, I’m a loser in the morning and rule in the evening. Feels like it, too.

I hope I can drop by for a bit, we shall see. I imagine the earlier the better there; that place gets full on Fridays.

We’re still on, despite the gloomy forecast. We’ve let the Beer Garden know to anticipate us coming inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Despite a rainy morning, the afternoon is supposed to be clear. No excuses, people!

I’ll be there, but on the earlier side, like 4ish.

Can someone post what the condition of the WO&D is between Shirlington and the Custis cutoff this afternoon? Would like to go but will not portage through water, thank you very much.

I crossed the W&OD at Bluemont this morning at about 8:45. The creek was high but not that bad. I’ve seen it worse. Some standing water on the trail but still easily classified as “puddles”. I think you’ll be fine.

Ugh, and I cannot make BHFWDHH. My wife’s birthday night out is tonight and we’re going bowling (not my favorite pastime :(). Have fun!

Both Carlyn Springs and Wilson underpasses are flooded, but the rest of the trail is fine. At Carlyn Springs, just take the old “fenced” off path, cross the road at grade and take the gravel Dominion driveway back to the trail. The at-grade crossing of Wilson is obvious.

oh…I didn’t know about that Plan B at Carlin Springs when I forded through the water this morning, thinking about the implications of walking through what must have been, in part, sewage.
