Maybe you are thinking of “BikeDC: The Washington DC and Arlington County Community Bike Ride” that has happened in past years?

The event organizer is no longer doing that due to difficulties with DC’s permitting process.

O Yes I probably am. I ran into that ride by accident the past few years and always had fun.

Too bad it is not going to happen again. It was a great time.

    :(

I thought they were only unable to do it that one year. I was hoping they would try again this year, having had more time to figure out faster ways of navigating the permit process.

As has been noted before, any day of the year can be a bike on the GW Parkway Day — if you’re brave enough. The fee for participation is reportedly around $200. See this guy for for more info:

see, the trick is to be able to keep up with 35mph-45mph traffic, like the guy I saw on a TT bike being motorpaced by his significant other on a moped a couple years ago.

    ^^^
This is ELITE because it would violate two GWP rules at once – no commercial traffic and no cycling. :)
