If we move to a bigger place soon, you can keep it in my new basement. You might need to move it sooner than that, though.

Homeowners association is going to have a fit if they find it on my back porch.

Whatever happened to the DC I know and love? We had a shade tree mechanic around the corner. Everyone pretty much thought of it as a neighborhood amenity.

To say nothing of the guy who said, “Don’t worry, I keep my lawnmowers in the part of the living room where the roof isn’t caving in.”

Sadly, the owners who are opposed to bikes on patios are only willing to adhere (rather blindly) to the association bylaws. They’re also loathe to entertain any discourse with other owners who want to try to find a solution that accomodates more people.

It came up at last night’s HOA meeting, and its really disheartening to see how people who I otherwise get along with pretty well are so vehement in their opposition to some very managable requests.

Anyways, I’d rather avoid a fine that is more money than I paid for the bike in the first place.

This kind of BS situation is precisely the reason that I never, ever, ever want to live in place w/ an HOA.

Good luck finding such a place. Those areas get rarer all the time.

One of many reasons I plan not to be living here 5 years from now, if not fewer. Actually, to be more precise, there are lots of places around me w/o HOAs… good traditional urban neighborhoods – like Del Ray, where I live now. Only problem is I’ll never be able to afford a house in said neighborhood, which is really one of the reasons I plan to be living elsewhere.

My wife is my HOA and she says there’s no room at the inn.

I doubt it would fare much better under a tarp outside the shed at my house. The three inside already fight for space.

I could store it in our shed, but since I’m in Bethesda, I don’t know that would do you a whole lot of good.

Very tempting, but I’m quite sure the Walgoose would have a very different s-1 factor than a commuter or road bike.

I have to say, this is tempting, particularly after the winter we’ve just had. (I’d love to have something more sure-footed than my hybrid for those snowy days!) But I’m not sure how I’d even figure out whether it was my size, etc., so if you get someone who has a greater need than mine, feel free to give it to them instead.

Bilsko, this bike has been the source of many a fun thread and it feels like a mascot… it shouldn’t go to just anyone. If you need to get it out of the way until you find an appropriate solution feel free to store it at my shop in Merrifield for now. I don’t have the cash to buy it myself (at least not right now), but you are welcome to store it here… I can find the room for it.

Maybe we should move it around forum members like a bikeshare, then whoever has it when it snows, wins!

I like this idea. Though I should warn yall that when it’s in my garage, it might get e-bike-ified.
