    I don’t know what that post is all about, but I officially declare 2014 to be the toughest, harshest, most wicked and challenging winter in the ENTIRE history (;)) of the Freezing Saddles competition.

    All contestants riding this year deserve triple kudos!

    (and that was before reading this morning’s forecast for the Sunday night storm)

    What’s a heating degree day? It sounds uncomfortable.

    Umm, if it was colder than the third quartile of the 21 year average, doesn’t that mean January was colder than more than 75% of other Januarys, and therefore really freakin cold? Freezing Saddles observations are confirmed!

    DCA numbers are probably the least representative of regional temps, particularly given how regionally widespread #BAFS riders are. I officially declare this the worst winter ever (WWE).

    The chart also doesn’t account for snow and ice. I can bicycle in pretty much any temperature, so long as I put on enough warm clothes beforehand. But having the trails impassable for weeks at a time is a royal pain!
