    This is how they recover and work on non-cycling muscles over the winter. 2013 champion Chris Froome in Japan:

    I think he should stick to this:

    Actually, he is in Japan, before the Saitama criterium races take place. Froome, German sprint specialist Marcel Kittel and a couple other pro cyclists were on hand for an introduction to sumo, probably to promote interest in the crits and cycling in Japan. Japanese cyclist Yukiya Arashiro has competed for Team Europcar at the Tour de France, but he doesn’t seem to have been at this sumo event.

    they’re lucky none of the cyclists were accidentally broken.

    Was seeing all the tweets last night.

    Seeing Kittel (one of the bigger pros) dwarfed by a sumo is a big illustration between the two sports.

    The event is one of those put on by ASO, so I’ll bet only stage winners/jersey winners were invited.

    I love it. 100% polar opposite skill and genetic requirement pools. next up sumo guys on bikes.

    I read that Peter Sagan was there too. I was just about to say that he would be good for an event like this. Not that he’s big enough to be a competitive sumo wrestler, but he has more non-traditional athletic skills than most Tour de France pros do. I don’t think most cyclists can do a wheelie on a road bike and ride up the back of a parked car like he does. At the very least, he would probably be the most entertaining cyclist to enter a real sumo match.

    The real question is: Will Rapha expand their line to reach Sumo-Fred?
