Up front, you simply aren’t going to find a bike that is a good DH bike that also works for any sort of cross country. Period. Ignore what the mfgs marketing people say. I’ve done a lot of shuttle/lift riding over the years and ride an Ibis Mojo HD as my XC bike; its a very good descending bike for something that can be pedaled to the top of the mountain, but my DH bike will simply wipe the floor with it on actual shuttle/lift terrain.

First question is where do you intend on riding? Just super technical terrain (i.e. the FredShed or GW Forest) where you’ll be pedaling to the top, or actual shuttle or lift riding where you’ll be going up on a ski lift or shuttle vehicle?

I’ll let other users respond to your questions, because I wanted to ask about something else. Your IP address has you listed in India–can you tell us about some of the downhill mountain biking opportunities there?

Maybe that’s just where he wants the NSA to think he is.

Don’t worry, indians ride bikes too. Maybe he’s thinking about downhilling the Himalayas or the Ghats then cross-countrying to the coast.

That kind of bike is only good for ten paces at dawn.
