Wait a second, where are the potholes, cracks, crushed soda cans, glass, joggers running three aside? Looks very peaceful, but open spaces scare me. I need to fall asleep to police cars and people screaming in multiple languages, very soothing.
Just out curiosity, did you accidentally flip off the polite motorist out of reflex?

Look at all that super smooth asphalt. That’s like……cheating! :p

The actual town of Medina made a decision about 30-40 years ago to build their city streets with concrete with a centerline expansion joint and expansion joints across the road about every 12-15 feet. Because each of these slabs are essentially independent, there are pretty significant lips where one slab has raised/lowered relative to its neighbor. The photo was taken on an open road outside of town. Not a bad beauty shot however.

The lesson that WABA taught the DC area governments about drainage grates (slots perpendicular to cyclists = good) also appears to have been a lesson lost.

All in all, a pleasant time. Next time I bring the hybrid with fatter tires. The city streets punish bikes (and riders) with 23s.
