The bridge ped/bike path attempts to separate the peds and cyclists. It sort of works. Walked over the bridge yesterday and there were some ELITE cyclists that insisted on busting down the slope among tourists and walkers at high speed. While the bridge was a grand place to walk, they were trying to make it a fitness ride.

Ah… I miss NY. The Brooklyn Bridge is a great ride, and yes, it has a very nice “separation” of peds and bikes (just painted lines). I found that it usually worked if you were biking for transportation, but that it never worked for training. Most cyclists understood this.

Note to Arlington folks: this is the minimum that I’m hoping for for the Custis sidewalk, I mean, trail through Rosslyn.

it’s weird that they put the faster mode on the right

Each side was two way so the fastest mode was on the left when coming down from the bridge. It seemed to work best when the peds paid attention and the cyclists avoided being ELITE jerks.

They also do it in Minneapolis.

This explains why some people from out of town walk on the wrong side of the Custis near the hotel.
